You can delete your Decove account yourself, at any time, from inside the app. It takes effect immediately and needs no one’s approval.
Open your profile (the You tab) → the gear icon → Delete account, and confirm.
A Decove account is unlocked by a key held on your devices. If you have lost every device and your recovery code, the account can no longer be opened — by you or by us. You can still delete it, because deleting does not require reading anything: on the sign-in screen, enter the same phone number and choose Start over on this number. Verifying the number by text message is what proves it is yours; the old account is deleted and you can create a new one.
If neither path works, write to privacy@decove.app from any address, telling us the phone number on the account. We will ask you to verify that you control the number before deleting anything — a request we could act on without that check would be a way for anyone to delete anyone.
Immediately and permanently: your posts and their photos and voice notes, your comments, your direct messages as stored on our server, the per-recipient keys that let your friends open them, your friendships and pending requests, your invite links, your profile (display name and photo), your sessions, your registered devices for notifications, and the blinded pseudonym that let friends find you by phone number. Your phone number stops being associated with any account.
Content you sent that other people have already received also lives on their devices, decrypted, as any message does. Deleting your account removes it from our server; it cannot reach into someone else’s phone.
If someone has blocked you, that block survives your account. It is recorded against your phone number rather than your account precisely so that deleting and re-registering does not undo it — that is the move a block has to outlast. Registering again on the same number will leave you still blocked by that person. Nothing about you is readable in that record; it is a one-way hash of the number and the fact of the block.
We may retain records we are legally required to keep, and ordinary server logs age out on their normal schedule. Neither contains the content of anything you wrote, which we never had.
